Kerala Travel Mart 2010 ,Bolgatty Palace cochin Kerala

The 6th edition of Kerala Travel Mart will be held from 23rd to 26th of September 2010 at Bolgatty Palace Cochin. KTM exhibition is held once in 2 years. The last KTM Expo was held in 2008. This is the most notable international B2B tourism fest which Kerala hosts. KTM 2010 will have the presence of more than 1500 bearers from different countries including Germany, Italy, U.S, France etc. KTM 2010 participants include representatives of Travel agencies, Airlines etc.

The sixth edition of the biennial event was inaugurated by Kerala High Court chief justice Jasti Chelameswar at the historic Dutch palace on the Bolgatty Island. Some 2,000 delegates from India and abroad attended the function. The inaugural function will be followed by a grand entertainment programme, on the theme, ‘Athithi Devo Bhav’ which is this year’s theme for the Mart. The objective behind selecting this theme is, that tourism is considered as an eternal rainbow which connects countries, continents, people and above all the ‘athithi and athitheya’ (guest and host). There will also be a cultural programme on the theme on the inaugural day. The script for the same is by K Jayakumar, IAS, Kerala and Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala and the show directed by K C Chandrahasan of Kerala Travels Interserve.

Travel marts should be held every year in different venues of the state, Philip stressed. He suggested that it could be taken to the beach resort of Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram next year and emerging destination Bekal, in the northern Kerala, in another three to four years.

A total of 551 International and 1621 Domestic Buyers have registered for this year's mart. The venue is open only for registered delegates on the first two days, and is open for general visitors on the last day.International buyers from countries like Poland, Mexico, South Africa, Japan, China, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, the U.K., the U.S.A., Germany, France and from countries in South Asia have registered as delegates in the mart. More than thousand buyers from other states of India will also participate in India's most popular travel mart.Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, this year's KTM will be indicative of the State's preparedness to attract tourists from countries just recovering from global recession.

A Memorable Trip to Kerala’s Periyar Wildlife Reserve

A Memorable Trip to Kerala’s Periyar Wildlife Reserve

Why Kerala is more attracted to Europeans travelers ?

Kerala is the most fascinating and incredible part of India. Really Kerala is a strip of land between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats, its perfect climate flirts unabashedly with the fertile soil, and everything glows. An easy-going and successful socialist state, Kerala has a liberal hospitality that stands out as its most laudable achievement.

The major fascinations of Kerala tourism are the wildlife of Kerala, backwaters of Kerala, exotic beaches of Kerala etc. Tourists from all round the globe come to witness Kerala Backwaters. The verdant coastline of Kerala is a home to many natural and manmade canals, lakes and many rivers. You can cruise along the Kerala backwater to view the rural life of different villages near the river banks.

In fact, the exotic beaches, lush green forest, blue sea, rolling hills, and the wildlife in Kerala have been the center of attraction to the tourist, since time immortal. Undoubtedly, Kerala reveals grandeur in every walk of life. So, never fail to travel in Kerala, which is a home to variety of attraction.

Kerala has a well-deserved reputation as one of the easiest places in India for foreign travelers to visit and English is widely spoken. Kerala is rightly famed for its incredible beaches, but between its coastline in the west and the Western Ghats mountain range on its eastern border, visitors will find an enticing mix of historic cities, ancient monuments, wildlife parks, vibrant communities, history and breathtaking scenery. The state is also famed for its rivers and waterways and a boat tour exploring the villages and communities that live in these lush areas is the highlight of many people's stay in Kerala.

Combine this with some of the most taste bud-tingling cuisine in India, and you can imagine how hard it will be to leave before you even get here.

What to do about money in India. Should I take traveler's checks, cash, or credit cards—or should I use an ATM?

ATMs are now common place in all but India's most rural locations, so just take a stash of cash to get yourself started, and use your ATM card for the rest of the trip. Credit cards aren't accepted in most places; unless you plan to buy some high-end items or stay at a plush hotel, chances are you won't have much occasion to rack up a bill. All the nationalised banks are change your currency on their banking time;10 am to3 pm.

Promote Eco friendly Tourism -live with nature

Sustainable tourism
With more than 900 million people traveling each year, the tourism industry wields tremendous economic importance, especially in areas rich in biological and cultural diversity. But unless tourism is practiced responsibly and in harmony with the environment, it can lead to unchecked development, cultural exploitation, habitat destruction, waste and pollution. The purpose of sustainable tourism is to allow tourism to develop in a way that is fair and equitable for host communities. Sustainable tourism is economically viable in the long-term, and it avoids damage to tourist attractions and the physical environment.

How to spend your free days in three of the World Cup's host cities — Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban

Johannesburg, Joburg, Jozi, Egoli The city is a financial juggernaut on the African continent. Pulsating with energy and drive, Johannesburg is a hub of culture and excitement.- home to some 6 million people and spirited host to an ever-increasing number of visitors every year.
Now proudly taking its place as Africa’s second largest city, Joburg is growing at an unprecedented rate – constantly and continuously transforming itself. Joburg is seen not only as the economic hub of the Continent, but also as offering a smorgasbord of cultural, leisure, sporting, fashion and lifestyle activities that is fast making us the leading destination for both leisure and business tourists.
While our city may have been founded on a nugget of gold, it’s no longer our Stock Exchange or being the business epicenter for a continent alone that make us famous – rather its the diversity, vibrancy and warmth of our people, the countless cultures they represent and the infinite choices the city offers its citizens and visitors.http://www.joburg.org.za

Cape Town - a city with a diverse range of attractions, sights and activities to offer. From lavish and luxurious to back-packing on a budget, Cape Town has something for everyone. From the landmark beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay to the vibrant V&A Waterfront and Cape Town city centre and the award winning wine farms of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek - time spent in Cape Town will not be forgotten.http://www.aboutcapetown.com/

The city's "golden mile", a four kilometre stretch of beaches, restaurants and promenades, holds pride of place in culturally varied Durban. Durban, with the Zulu name eThekwini, forms part of the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality and is the largest city in KwaZulu-Natal. Durban is regarded as the busiest port in Africa and is also a major centre of tourism, due to Durban's warm subtropical climate and beaches. In Durban the Golden Mile provides ample tourist attractions, particularly for people touring and on holiday. Being a coastal city, Durban is constantly affected by the warm Mozambique current flowing down its coastline, making surfing one of the primary activities on the many beaches. Durban is where you will also find several signs demarcating safe swimming areas, with angling and boating as other popular beach activities. Durban is a thriving industrial centre, supporting a major seaport, and a year-round holiday destination. Industries include shipbuilding and ship repairing, sugar refining, petroleum refining, fishing, automobile assembly and the manufacture of food products, paint, chemicals, fertilizers, soap, footwear and textiles.
